Reading through James: Do you see what I see?

Sometimes when I look at my reflection in the mirror my image is smudged or perhaps I need my corrective lenses or even a magnifying mirror to help me see clearly.

I find in my life that is what needs to happen for me to be able to see the truth in God's word and to walk wisely.

I need to see the smudges, the lies that I've been believing, and wash them off. The good news is that I can't wash them off (that sin that so easily entangles me), but I know who can!  God's word says that if I confess my sin (agree with God of my offense to Him) then He is FAITHFUL (He will ALWAYS do this) and JUST (He does the following based on what He has determined to be morally right and fair) and will FORGIVE (not count it against me) my sin and CLEANSE (He will make me thoroughly clean) me from all unrighteosness. (1 John 1:9 paraphrased by me)

I need to put corrective lenses on too!  But with this I need help.  That is one reason why I go to church.  I need the fellowship, but also I need the preaching.  I need that extra help, that outside help for me to see the truth clearly.

Read James 1:22-25.

Watch the prayercast from Operation World on the country of Central Africa Republic.

If you cannot see the prayercast video please go here.

Pray for the people in Central Africa Republic and for your prayer partner.

Prepare:  Start thinking and praying about who will be your mentor along this journey.  Be sure to study something about culture  as you will be needing it soon.

But the one who looks into the perfect law, the law of liberty, and perseveres, being no hearer who forgets but a doer who acts, he will be blessed in his doing. (James 1:25 ESV)

  1. Ok- so... you wrote this before today's sermon, and yet somehow they seem so closely tied together. I hope that each one of us who is a part of the team to the Philippines would be able to bond together and BE THE CHURCH.

  2. Help us, Lord, to be doers of the word. Help us not forget what we've heard, but to act upon it. May we act because we love you and want to obey you.
    In Christ,
