Reading through James: Hearing & Doing

I set my alarm.  I set it to get up.  I have people to see and things to do.  I set it early to spend time in prayer and Bible reading and praise music to be immersed, to set my mind and soul right before the rest of my day begins.  I set my alarm at night before I go to bed.

It goes off.  I hear it go off.  I roll over to....

...hit the snooze button!  Why?  I had great plans from the day before.  I NEED my morning time. I set the alarm as a reminder of what were my plans for the day.

And yet this is how I am with what I read in God's word.  I am reminded of how I want to live but a lot of the time I hit the "snooze" button.  I'll do it later.

Read James 1:19-21.

Comment below.  How does this impact your life?  Are you like me and hitting the "snooze" button?

Watch the prayercast by Operation World for the country of  Cambodia.

If you can't watch the prayercast of Cambodia please go here.

Pray for the people of Cambodia and for your prayer partner.

Prepare:  Spend 30 minutes this weekend researching different cultures around the world.  Be prepared to share what you learn on an upcoming special Culture Blog Post.

Know this, my beloved brothers: let every person be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger; (James 1:19 ESV)

  2. Disappointing to see that there are so many people with so little yet we as Americans take our wealth and rights for granted. I pray that my eyes will be opened to this and my heart will be changed during our trip in the Philippines

  3. May we be willing to allow God to humble our hearts, so we can live righteous lives, as God desires. These prayercasts show glimpses of people living in moral filth, evil, and sadness (as talked about in James 1:21). It is my prayer that these people can be reached with the Gospel truth, for their salvation & for God's glory.
    In Him,

  4. It's amazing how we can complain about food when people, in Cambodia, are looking for food in the dumps. God is really opening my eyes to see how fortunate we have it here in America. I need to take advantage of my freedoms and spread the good news!
